The production and shipment of Hot Chili Sauce
A Hot Chili Sauce made in Italy can be turned from raw ingredients into a sauce, and then shipped to America in a surprisingly short amount of time. The "Peperoncino Calabrese" sauce starts out as red hot peppers, organically grown and picked. Then salt, sunflower oil, and white wine vinegar are added to the peppers and are stored in jars until shipment. Around Italy and the islands, the sauces are shipped by a courier. To the U.S., their products are most likely sent by cargo ships across the Atlantic. A common port to land in would be the Ports of Virginia in Hampton Roads, Virginia. From there the products can be sent by plane across the country, or sent by 18-wheeler to be transported shorter distances. This hot pepper sauce was probably sent to Boston and then sent further to a Fresh Market where it was purchased.
