GLOBALIZATION
Globalization is the advancement of economic involvement with other countries through trade and investment, driven by improvements in transportation and technology. There are 4 main branches that make up Globalization. Technology, Economy, Environment, and Culture. Each of these categories have evolved through globalization, but problems have arisen as well...
Economy: The economical category of globalization is one of the main focuses, but not the only one. The economies of nations now depends on others for manufacturing and shipment. A very prominent example of this is the massive amount of goods manufactured in China and shipped to the U.S.. The economy is based off of trade, which has been heavily improved in the recent years through another category of globalization; technology. A big problem with us manufacturing most of our products in China is our dependence on another country for so much of our goods and labor. A way to solve this is to try and pay American workers to build American products, instead of using cheap labor from third world countries.
Technology: A very important category of globalization that the economy depends on is technology. Technology is as simple as a zipper, and as complex as building a large cargo plane and sending products from around the world to others in hours. In order for trade to increase between countries around the world, major improvements have been made to transportation. Now people can travel and ship products from across the world in just hours. This has lead to massive trade increases and therefore other countries economy being involved with others. Culture can spread much easier, which is another category of globalization. An issue with the availability of travel is the spread of sickness and disease. To solve this, people from areas with known serious diseases that could cause an epidemic should be checked over and approved of by a hospital before traveling abroad.
Culture: The third category of globalization is culture. Culture has been made more far-spread than it ever has been before due to advancements in other categories, such as technology. America itself is a culmination of many cultures living together under common laws. Culture dictates how and where people choose to live. Due to this, different things are made all around the world, and that makes it a necessity for the world to be better connected through their economies. However, a common occurrence in the spread of culture for thousands of years is cultures with conflicting beliefs. Things like this harm globalization by limiting trade, preventing migration and interaction, and worst of all, war. There's no easy solution to this problem, but one that I can think of would be to leave a country alone if they do not wish to associate themselves with the U.S.. As long as they keep to themselves, we should be able to do the same.
Environment: The final category of globalization is environment. The environment is such an important piece of our world that we often neglect. And since we all live on the same planet, it's a global situation for all the countries to try and protect it. The environment is heavily affected by technology, and certain cultures have a profound effect on what technology is considered useful in their lifestyle. the massive issue we're facing internationally is global warming/ the destruction of the atmosphere. In the recent years, our carbon dioxide emissions have been far higher than any point in history. This is destroying the very atmosphere that allows us humans to live on the planet safely. All around the world, people should start turning off electronics when they're not in use, use biodegradable products, and use as little vehicular transportation as possible.
